This experience is for professionals working in the field of autism education and advocacy; seeking cultural exploration, collaborative breakthroughs, and professional transformation.
SkillCorps® is an opportunity to take your life and your career to a new realm of possibility; by learning to apply your unique experience and skills in a way that advances humanity and bridges the global opportunity gap through meaningful collaboration.
Once you complete your online application, our team will be in touch! Field placement is based on your professional background, your goals and intentions, and international partner site compatibility. You'll have the opportunity to select your top two site preferences when you apply!
When you're accepted to a team, you'll begin your SkillCorps® journey with crowdfunding and powerful sharing! Each SkillCorps® member fundraises a minimum of $5,000 before traveling to support the vision of the Global Autism Project! Fundraising is an important part of your program, and we provide ongoing support.
Before you travel to one of our partner sites, you'll join 75-100 other SkillCorps® members at orientation! Orientation is a powerful two-day escalated learning experience designed to prepare you for your journey to the field. You'll then travel as a team where you'll explore and collaborate to execute a project from start to finish – led and requested by our local partners!
At its core, SkillCorps® is about collaboration. This program is designed to transform the way in which we come together as humans – all over the world – to solve major problems. SkillCorps® is about bridging global gap in awareness and acceptance of autism. It's about working together across cultural, language, and professional barriers. Together, we can create a world in which these barriers cannot exist.
Embrace challenge. Discover what's possible.
Our SkillCorps® Community makes the work of the Global Autism Project possible. But fundraising is also for you. By stepping outside of what's comfortable and into the unknown, you'll discover a new realm of possibilities for yourself and your life. We guide you in this process in our online community for new SkillCorps® members.
You come back home! But, if you're like most of our SkillCorps Alumni, you'll stay involved, travel again, and maybe go on to join our team in other ways! Once you're a SkillCorps Alum, you'll have the opportunity to step into leadership roles, travel, present, and so much more.
"When we do things for others, we unknowingly make assumptions about what people are capable of, and what they're not capable of. When we do with others, that conversation changes"
Global Autism Project was founded over fifteen years ago, based on the belief local leaders can and will activate change in their own communities. We center Autistic voices and work with, not for the community.
